Spring catching up

We don't seem to be able to keep up with our own lives these days. We've got a lot going on and haven't been keeping up on our blogging and photo posting. We'll do the best we can to catch up.

In keeping with our lateness, I waited until a week before Nick's second birthday to call for his doctor's appointment. Of course, they didn't have an appointment available for over a month, so I just now got around to taking him. I informed the doctor that he doesn't eat vegetables, which apparently is pretty normal for a two year old. She asked if he used three word sentences, and I asked if "Go away Lux, this is my blanket!" counted. He got the usual measurements, 35 1/2 inches tall (75th percentile), 28 1/4 lbs. (50th percentile), and 19 1/2 inches head circumference (70th percentile). He's pretty much been on the same track his whole life, but his height is reverting back towards the mean now. Thankfully, no shots were needed this time. The doctor said she had no concerns at all and that we should just come back when he is three. We've still never had a "sick" visit, and we're hoping to keep it that way as long as we stay lucky.

Lux and Nick are really growing up, and it is hard to remember what they were like as babies. They chase each other around, tackle each other, and scream a lot. Sharing is hard... But, Nick now has the physical and language capabilities to at least attempt to stand up for himself. It can be pretty much fun to watch, until you have to step in and break things up.

Today, Grandma Paula and Grandpa John headed home after a really nice visit. The kids were more comfortable with them than they have ever been and spent many hours playing, drawing, building gingerbread bunny hutches, and such with them, which gave us a bit of a break. Twice we even got to go out to dinner alone, which was met with a "Have a nice time!" from Lux, rather than a complaint about being left with someone who wasn't her parents. Boy, was that nice.

We need to go back and post some entries on Christmas, Nick's birthday party, and other events of the winter, but for now we are mostly just looking forward to the Baysox home opener, pool club, and a trip to Berkeley and Napa Valley for our old friend Nick's wedding and a celebration of my 40th birthday...
