30 Percent There
BROTHER UPDATE -Susan saw the midwife today who examined her and found her to be dialated 3 centimeters and 80% effaced. To those of you who might not know, you start at zero centimeters and have to be 10 centimeters before you can start pushing the baby out, so nearly a third of the work of the labor contractions is already done.
On the negative side, Susan was 3 cm and 100% effaced for several days before going into labor with Lux, so there is no guarantee that things will be happening immediately. On the positive side, second babies tend to be a bit quicker, so there is always hope that brother will make his appearance sooner rather than later.
The midwife also stripped Susan's membranes, which is basically a euphemism for roughing up the cervix a bit in hopes of getting things going. It has been 8 hours and no real contractions, however.
Tomorrow is the boy's official due date, so let's see if he is a prompt fellow.
