More Words

I feel like I maligned Lux in my last post. She has more sounds/words/signs than I have been giving her credit for. She can say fish (kind of). She blows for bubble and also for hot. Which means she she blows for coffee, whether it is hot or cold or even still in its package. Yesterday she said, rather clearly, turkey, which is her current favorite food. She pants for dog. She certainly knows airplanes, points and makes an indiscriminate noise when she sees one. She can hiss for snake. She can almost say Oobi (her favorite TV show). She sniffs for flowers. She bangs for drum. She holds her arm up over her head for umbrella. She can say something that sounds like Brother, but could be belly.

What we think is funny is that many of Lux's words/sounds/signs aren't for the things that it would be most useful to have words/sounds/signs for. For example, she can say shower pretty clearly. But every day she points at her mouth. And we have to ask her what it is she wants, going through a whole list of things. Do you want a pacifier? Are you hungry? Are you thirsty? Yes? Do you want water? Do you want milk? You would think that the words would come first for the things that are most important to her, like her Dolly. We also wonder what happened to her first word, kitty. She said it for some time, then stopped and switched to Nyah Nyah (which sort of sounds like Meow Meow).

BROTHER UPDATE - We will have another ultrasound on the boy next week, just to rule out some kidney problems. This will the be the latest ultrasound we have ever had on a baby, so we are interested to find out if we can get some idea of what he looks like. We will take Lux with us, and maybe she'll be able to recognize the picture as a baby this time. I hope so.
