NEW FEATURE!
We have decided to introduce a new feature here at Fiat Lux - daily Brother Updates! Check here for the latest info on brother. Wondering if he is here yet? Check here! Thinking that maybe the fact that you got our answering machine means we are at the hospital? We'll let you know, right here!BROTHER UPDATE -
After two days of morning sickness (who knew it could come back in the third trimester?) and terrible back aches, Susan awoke feeling - fine. There are no tell tale signs to hint that labor is near. Official due date is Wednesday, February 16. Next OB/midwife appointment is Tuesday, February 15.
We plan on doing some shopping this afternoon which will give us an opportunity to walk around to encourage things. Who knows what will work? Everything is in place and ready - just waiting for the boy to give us a sign.
REGULAR PROGRAMMING -
Lux's vocabulary increases almost daily, although her baby talk is still mostly understandable to us. Yesterday she surprised both Paul and Susan separately by saying yo-yo. She also finally says Mama regularly.
Play dates have been going well, but Lux is finding herself in the position of having to defend her rights as she plays with girls 6 months or so older than she. Since they can talk and have older siblings there is a decent amount of bossiness going around, and a typical two-year old amount of "MINE!" being directed at Lux. It is sometimes a little hard to watch her constantly being on the receiving end of the treatment, as normal as it is, but we can ease our minds by knowing that it won't be too long before she'll be bossing brother around and telling him that everything in our house is hers.
Other milestones include walking up and down stairs rather than crawling them and a red letter day at swim class this morning where she floated happily on her back, didn't cling to Daddy and seemed to really enjoy sitting on the edge and jumping back in. She floated so nicely on her front side that she was an example to the class. And she didn't even seem to get that cold this time, so it must have been more pleasant for her.
Lux has also discovered the joy of candy conversation hearts. I'm not certain, but I suspect she may even prefer them to the tiny chocolate Santas that were her Christmas favorite. Obviously, she will not be a sugar-free child.
