New Stats

We went to the doctor's yesterday for Lux's 15 month check up (yeah, I know, about 4 weeks too late. We've been busy). Lux was fine until I tried to sit her down on the paper covered exam table. She did not like that. And when the nurse came in things got bad. Lux screamed hysterically as she was measured. She screamed hysterically as she was weighed. She screamed hysterically until the nurse left the room. Reading the Winnie the Pooh book that was in the room calmed her down, but the appearance of the doctor only started her up again. As I spoke with the doctor, holding Lux on my lap, Lux kept trying to get me to keep reading and ignore the doctor. Poor thing.

The appointment closed with four shots for Lux. It is amazing how someone so small could be so strong. It was a big struggle for the nurse and I to hold her down to get it accomplished. On a positive note, as soon as the shots were done and she was back in my arms, Lux calmed right down. She waved bye-bye to the nurse (okay, this wasn't a friendly bye-bye wave so much as a "don't let the door hit you on the way out" wave. But still...). And she'll only have to have one more round of shots until she turns four, so that's nice. Plus, now that she's had the chicken pox vaccine she'll never have to worry about chicken pox scars!

So, her growth continues right along the same curve we've seen since the very beginning. She is 33 inches long (or 2 foot, 9 inches tall!) which puts her in the better than 97% category - still tall. Her head is still at the 50% mark (18 inches) and her weight is at the 50% at 22 pounds, 13 ounces. We actually suspect she weighs a bit more than that, as she was frantically climbing out of the weighing bucket during the weighing in portion. On our home scale she weighs about 23 to 23 1/2 pounds.

She is very healthy in all ways, developmentally on track, and seemed to forget all about the trauma as soon as we left the doctors' office. Of course, she probably hasn't forgotten at all, just filed it away until next visit. I think I'll let Paul take her that time.

A couple of cute things she is doing/has done that I haven't written about. She still loves to run to greet her Daddy when he gets home. Likes to give him big hugs and pats on the back. She likes to carry around a shopping bag and fill it with various items. When she was at Nana Jane's house, she played with magnetic letters on the refrigerator. When we got home she found a letter (not magnetic) on the floor and immediately took it to the refrigerator and tried to stick it on. Sometimes, at night when Paul has come home from work, she runs between us hugging each of us, though she is still much more likely to regard me as chopped liver when Paul is around. She still loves to read books and is getting too darn close to being able to work most electronics in the house. She's really quite the pistol.
