Hip, Hip
For many months now, the first disc in the car CD player has been a Weezer compilation I made. Since we never bothered to play kids music in the car, they have never complained about the fact that we always listen to "adult" music while we drive. Now, apparently they've heard Weezer enough that they've become huge fans. There particular favorites are Beverly Hills, Island in the Sun, and The Sweater Song. Particularly when Island in the Sun comes on, everyone in the car starts singing "Hip Hip". You can listen to a snippet on iTunes. We've even been catching them walking around the house singing Weezer songs. We couldn't be more proud. The weather has continued to be not-at-all-Springlike and we are just hoping it warms up for Granddad and Janie's visit this weekend. But, we did get just enough of a break to make it to the Baysox Opening Day on Thursday. It was cool, about 50 degrees, but we had a fantastic time. We can tell this is going to be a great season. Both kids stayed up for the whole game and Lux wouldn't let us leave early, since she was glued to every pitch. She did get a bit upset when the ball got lost in the forest (due to a home run), but we assured her that they had plenty of balls. We all enjoyed our baseball food, high fiving Louie and Mr. Bristles (the guy who dresses up like a toothbrush to advertise a local dental practice) and watching all the silly games between innings. I (Paul) even got asked to participate in the "dizzy bats" contest, but Lux wouldn't let me, so I had to pass (which I was fine with). The highlight of the evening came late in the game when Lux and Nick were eating their "candy bubbas" (lollipops shaped like pacifiers) and the camera guy got a good close up shot of Nick sitting on Susan's lap. Right as they put his picture up on the giant screen in the outfield, Nick opened wide and stuck out his, completely blue, tongue. Perfect.
Actually, that reminds me that Nick has been a lot of attention these days since he started wearing his hair in a faux hawk. We just spike his hair with some goo, which he loves, and people stop us all the time to tell us how cool his hair is.
