Trying a bottle...

Well, Lux and I added a new aspect to our relationship on Friday morning. I finally got to feed her! For the first 3 1/2 weeks she only ate milk directly from Susan, but now we are starting to slowly introduce her to a bottle. Susan pumped a couple of ounces on Thursday and froze them. Then on Friday morning when Lux got hungry, rather than waking up Susan, I warmed the milk and gave it to Lux with a bottle. She took it like a champ, downing the entire thing in just a few minutes. She certainly doesn't have any issues eating from a synthetic nipple! One possible issue is that she could find eating from a nipple so easy that she doesn't want to go back to the breast which requires more work. We are doing a few things to prevent this: introduce the bottle very slowly, from a few times a week ramping up to once a day, use Avent nipples which have a single tiny hole so they require quite a bit of work to feed from, and not letting Susan feed her from the bottle; she gets breast fed by Susan, and bottle fed by Dad (and soon a babysitter like Auntie Karen).

Last night, Grandad Dan and Noonie arrived for a visit. They'll be here until Monday, so look for updates on their visit and photos soon.
