Tall Girl

Lux officially turned two months old on September 7th and she is doing great! We've started to look back at the pictures from her first couple of weeks and it is amazing how much she has grown and changed! She is eating well, both from Mom and with pumped breast milk in a bottle from Dad. She is also smiling a lot more (see photo) and sometimes even manages a little laugh. She is getting up just once per night now, and one night slept straight from around midnight until 8am!

A couple of nights ago we got together with four other couples from our Bradley childbirth class and had a great time meeting each of the babies (Alair, Jessie, Alexandra [yes, another one!], & Liam) and sharing experiences with the parents. I also found out yesterday that the last couple from our class had their baby by C-section bringing the total to 3 C-sections out of 6 deliveries for our class. That is a surprisingly high number to me given that all of the couples started out with the goal of an unmedicated vaginal birth, but one always needs to be prepared for the unexpected. Happily, every one of the babies and mothers are doing wonderfully.

Lux had her two month checkup today and she everything is perfect health-wise. They re-measured her vital stats and they are: Height 25" (>97th percentile, off the chart!), Weight 11lbs 8oz (75th percentile), Head 15" (45th percentile). So, she is a very tall baby! This bodes well for her future as a volleyball superstar! They also looked at her hernia where the umbilical cord went in and were totally unconcerned. Apparently it is a non-issue. Finally, she got about 4 shots and was a real trooper through that.

Now our focus turns to preparing for our big trip to LA and San Diego. We are flying with Lux to LA on Friday to begin a marathon trip which will include a Karaoke rehersal dinner, the wedding of my incredibly talented second cousin Kit Pongetti, my Mom's 65th birthday, Lux meeting her aunt Danielle for the first time, a visit to Ron, Lillie, Henry and Alan, a visit to Fiona, Rick, and Erica's, driving to San Diego, Lux meeting Grandpa George and Norma for the first time, a reception a Susan's Mom's house with some San Diego friends including my student Emil, Stephen and Melissa, another former student Natasha, and hopefully Biff, Kris, and their new baby Katilyn, then back to LA to hang out with my Dad and Noonie, play at the beach, and a backyard BBQ for more LA friends and family including at least some of the Frankel family. Whew! We'll be back here on September 22nd with lots of stories and photos to share.
