Four Months!
November 7th was a big day for us. First of all, it was our 11th wedding anniversary. To celebrate, we had Aunt Karen come over and be our first ever nighttime babysitter so we could have a nice evening out. We had a great dinner at DC Coast. The highlight had to be the poisson cru, cubes of raw tuna marinated in coconut milk, lime and cilantro, that reminded us of our trip to Tahiti last year for our 10th anniversary. We stopped at Stardust on the way home and Susan found her perfect drink, the US Prime, a martini garnished with a piece of beef jerkey! Karen did a great job babysitting and I'm sure we'll be using her more in the future. As Lux has reached four months old, the rate of change continues to be amazing. She is really getting big and is acting less and less like a helpless newborn. She can stand up with support, she reaches and grabs everything near her now, and she is getting more and more vocal. Unfortunately, these exciting new skills seem to keep her excited at night and she has had a lot of trouble going to sleep at night and has been waking up multiple times quite a bit over the last week. This is an unwelcome regression for those of us who have to get up and comfort her over and over again. Hopefully it is just a short-lived phase. Thursday is her next doctor appointment, so we'll get her measurements then and report on them. Lux has also been spending more time with her friend Juliana and they have decided to have semi-regular playdates on Mondays.
She has also started to show a LOT of interest in foods that we eat, and we let her play with a piece of afghan bread which she stuck in her mouth and attempted to soak to death. She didn't really eat any but hopefully having that as her first food presages an adventerous palate. I think it won't be long before we start having her try to actually eat some rice cereal. It will be great fun to get to share all sorts of interesting foods with her.
